In September 2006 there was a herding day arranged by the ASCV, and on a spur of the moment decision, I wanted to go. Upon arrival, I saw Storm (anyone who doesn't know Storm?) sitting in a C-crate with a young black tri dog I had never seen before. From a distance he was striking, close up he was adorable, and I kept watching him all day, joking that I would take him home with me. Joking aside, that did happen. Needing a name change, he responded to several prospective names, but in the end he chose Truman.

At that herding day, he showed enthusiasm and promise on the sheep, and has continued to impress with minimal exposure to stock.

With minimal conformation training, Truman gave a creditable performance at his first show, the 2006 ASCV champ and open shows, winning second and first respectively in his minor puppy dog classes. It was a busy day.

Truman is a head-cocker, and has a very sweet character. He also shares Isis' views on personal space, and will often wait until everyone else is comfortable before plonking himself down in the middle. This is not always appreciated... for a little dog, he's remarkably solid! He doesn't understand why it is that nobody wants him stepping on them.

During the warm weather he discovered the joys of swimming, and also of dive-bombing Aspen.

He has boundless energy and although he is capable of sitting still, he rarely chooses to, as it's generally much more fun to do stuff. However, sometimes there's just nothing else for it.

At the 2007 ASCV champ show under Mr David Eadie of Canada, Truman won the Limit Dog class and Best Limit in Show. At the open show under Ms Sam Goulding, he won 2nd place in Intermediate Dog to his brother, and 2nd place in Non-Champion Sweepstakes.

Truman has commenced obedience and agility training, and we hope to be trialling later this year.
